V-CUT & V-CAM

Every Vector fibre laser ships with V-CUT and V-CAM as standard — a complete design-to-cut software suite developed specifically for professional fibre laser cutting. UK-developed control, European-engineered CAM, one integrated workflow.

V-CUT is developed in-house by DXF Manufacturing. V-CAM is powered by Libellula — a globally recognised laser CAM platform. Together, they form a complete, production-ready workflow included with every Vector machine.

V-CUT Control
System Features

V-CUT is a UK-designed and manufactured CNC control system built specifically for the Vector fibre laser range. It manages every aspect of machine operation, from motion control and cutting parameters to real-time diagnostics and remote support.
V-CUT is developed in-house by DXF's own UK engineering team to meet or exceed CE and UKCA safety and performance standards.

Touchscreen Interface

Modern, intuitive touchscreen UI developed in-house by DXF's UK R&D team. Designed for rapid job setup, easy material selection and clear toolpath visualisation — operators are productive from day one.

Advanced Motion Control

UK-developed motion logic ensures smooth acceleration, sharp cornering precision and consistent kerf width at high cutting speeds — resulting in cleaner edges and reduced heat-affected zones.

Smart Pierce & Cut Optimisation

Built-in optimisation automatically refines pierce timing, power levels, gas control and corner slow-downs — achieving high-quality cuts across all supported materials and thicknesses.

Real-Time Monitoring

Live cutting data, machine status, alerts and performance metrics displayed directly on the V-CUT interface. Operators stay in full control throughout every job.

Auto Height Control

Automatically senses and adjusts for surface variations in real time — protecting the cutting head and ensuring consistent cut quality across warped or uneven sheet material.

Remote Support

DXF engineers can connect securely to your V-CUT system for troubleshooting, diagnostics and software updates — without the need for an on-site visit, minimising downtime.

CE & UKCA Compliant

V-CUT is designed to meet or exceed current CE and UKCA safety and performance standards — ensuring compliance for UK and European production environments.

Material & Technology Databases

Built-in material and cutting technology databases store optimised parameters for common metals — reducing setup time and ensuring consistent results when switching between materials.

DXF & DWG Import

Import industry-standard 2D CAD files including DXF, DWG, AI and SVG. V-CAM prepares them instantly for fibre laser cutting — no manual conversion or redrawing required.

Automatic & Manual Nesting

Intelligent nesting algorithms optimise sheet usage automatically — reducing material waste and improving efficiency across both single jobs and production runs. Manual nesting available for full control.

Geometry Cleanup & Repair

Automatically detects and corrects common drawing issues — gaps, overlaps, duplicate lines and open contours — ensuring clean, reliable toolpaths without manual intervention.

Lead-In / Lead-Out Control

Fine-tune cut entry and exit points to improve edge quality — particularly important for stainless steel and aluminium where pierce position affects surface finish.

Kerf Compensation & Micro-Joints

Accurately compensate for laser kerf width in cut paths. Add and position micro-joints to prevent parts from dropping or moving during cutting — essential for small or intricate components.

Batch Processing & Production Jobs

Prepare multiple parts and sheets efficiently for production runs or mixed-part nesting. Batch NC generation reduces prep time significantly for high-volume environments.

How They Work Together

The Complete
Workflow

V-CAM and V-CUT are designed as two distinct but tightly integrated systems. V-CAM handles everything before the cut — import, prep, nesting and NC generation. V-CUT takes over for machine execution. This separation keeps both systems powerful, stable and easy to use.

common questions

V-CUT & V-CAM
FAQs

Answers to the most common questions about the V-CUT control system and V-CAM software — how they work, what they support and what comes included with a Vector machine.

Is V-CUT and V-CAM included with every Vector machine?

Yes. Both V-CUT and V-CAM are included as standard with every Vector fibre laser — there is no additional software licence fee. V-CAM Starter is included as standard; Expert is available as an upgrade.

Is V-CAM a CAD design program?

No. V-CAM is a dedicated laser CAM software — not a replacement for CAD. It imports existing DXF and DWG files from your design software and prepares them for cutting. V-CAM Expert includes a basic 2D CAD environment for geometry editing, but it is not a substitute for full CAD softwar

What file formats does V-CAM support?

V-CAM supports all common 2D CAD formats used in laser cutting, including DXF, DWG, AI and SVG. Image import (JPG, PNG) is available as an optional module in Expert.

What is the difference between V-CAM Starter and Expert?

Starter covers all core nesting, cutting and NC generation tasks — ideal for most operators. Expert adds full 2D CAD tools, collision avoidance, advanced nesting parameters, production reporting and optional module integrations for orders, storage and workflow management.

Which Vector machines use V-CUT and V-CAM?

V-CUT and V-CAM are standardised across the FL60, FL90 and FL130. Operators only need to learn one interface — making multi-machine environments straightforward to manage.

Does V-CUT support remote diagnostics?

Yes. V-CUT includes remote support capabilities — DXF engineers can connect securely for troubleshooting, diagnostics and software updates without requiring an on-site visit.

Is training provided?

Yes. Operator training is included as part of the machine installation, covering V-CUT operation, V-CAM job preparation, safe operation and best-practice cutting workflows.
